Boa Morte could retire at Bucs

Johannesburg - New Orlando Pirates signing Luis Boa Morte admits he could end his career at the Premier Soccer League giants.

The former Arsenal, Fulham and West Ham veteran put pen to an 18-month contract with the Buccaneers this week, joining as a free agent after leaving Greek outfit Larissa FC due to financial constraints.

The playmaker was unveiled to the public in Johannesburg on Wednesday and said he was delighted to be part of the Pirates family.

"After a long spell in Europe, I'm happy to be here in South Africa to continue with my football career. I hope to be here for a long time, maybe even till I retire," he told the PSL's official website.

"South Africa wasn't so big before the World Cup and after the World Cup people couldn't stop talking about this country, it is one of the best leagues in Africa and is professionally run and I am hoping to learn a lot here."

Boa Morte also confirmed former Hammers team-mate Benni McCarthy, who joined the Bucs at the beginning of the season, was instrumental in his decision to join the PSL club.

"My friend Benni told me a lot about Orlando Pirates as well as their success and history and I wanted to add more value for the team as well as for my career," he added.

"I am determined to follow the clubs targets of winning titles. On a personal note I want to contribute to the success of the team and playing regularly, because there is no player bigger than the team.

"I have only been here since Monday and had dinner with (Pirates chairman) Dr Khoza and I am thrilled to be working in a environment which will allow me to express myself help Orlando Pirates where possible."
