Black Aces thrash Maritzburg

Cape Town - Mpumalanga Black Aces came from a goal behind to beat Maritzburg United 4-1 in an Absa Premiership match at the Kanyamazane Stadium on Sunday.

A brace from Collins Mbesuma and a goal each from Bongolethu Jiyiaya and Sibusiso Masina ensured that Mpumalanga Black Aces maintain their undefeated run in the league this season.

Maritzburg were hoping to register their first victory of the season under new coach Clive Barker, but this still remains a dream.

On the other hand, for Aces it was more maintaining their good form this season and things worked according to plan as they won the match after coming from a goal down.

It was Maritzburg United that opened the scoring with a goal that came from Ashley Hartog which gave the KwaZulu-Natal side the lead in the 30th minute.

The match continued and Mpumalanga Black Aces kept on pressing for an equalizer. This finally paid off as Bongolethu Jayiya found the back of the net with an assist from Collins Mbesuma in the 40th minute.

What goes around comes around and this proved true for Mbesuma as he netted his fourth goal of the season giving Mpumalanga Black Aces a 2-1 lead in the 45th minute.

In the second half United looked determined to find an equalizer but things didn't work out for them.

In the 60th minute Collins Mbesuma extended the lead for Mpumalanga Black Aces as he scored a beautiful goal through a penalty.

In the dying minutes of the match it was substitute Sibusiso Masina who ended the hopes of Maritzburg United as he netted the fourth goal taking the score to 4-1.
