Billiat disappointed by draw

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Khama Billiat admits it was "really disappointing" to have missed out on three Premiership points as they drew 1-1 against Chippa United.

The former Ajax Cape Town playmaker had provided the assist for Cuthbert Malajila's 29th-minute opener, but Thamsanqa Sangweni responded for the Chilli Boys on the hour mark to eventually ensure a share of the spoils.

And, with the Brazilians still 10 points adrift of leaders Kaizer Chiefs, who also drew on the night, Billiat - man of the match at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium this week - knows they missed a big chance to cut into the gap at the top.

Billiat said: "It's really disappointing, the game-plan was to come here for three points, we didn't want to open the gap.

"We fought very hard, unfortunately we couldn't take our chances. I hope we will bounce back soon."

Sundowns missed a host of chances to put the game to bed, something Billiat knows they have to improve on.

"We are working hard on it. We never give up, we will keep pushing and do what we do. But they were very good on their defence," he continued.

"Unfortunately we will have to take a point and move forward."

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
