Cape Town - Former Bafana Bafana striker Benni McCarthy confirmed that he has been appointed as Sint-Truidense assistant coach.
The 37-year-old shared the news via his Twitter account after speculation about his possible appointment for the Belgian side was picking up through social media.
“Yes it's official; I’m joining the STVV family. Look forward to achieving memorable things here. Thanks everyone,” said the post.
McCarthy was unveiled alongside the club’s new head coach Chris O’Loughlin on Tuesday, September 8.
The retired footballer is currently still busy completing his UEFA A licence.
The once prolific forward has played all over Europe for the likes of Ajax Amsterdam, Celta Vigo, Porto, Blackburn Rovers and West Ham United.
McCarthy retired at 35-years-old from professional football after a short stint back home with Orlando Pirates.
