Benni McCarthy leaving SA?

2012-12-12 11:05

Johannesburg - Benni McCarthy could be lost to South African football again as he enters the final six months of his contract with Orlando Pirates, according to a Sowetan report.

McCarthy is free to talk to other clubs in January for the 2013-14 season and his representatives have hinted that he may seek "one more adventure" before the end of his career.

There is interest in his services from Major League Soccer in the US, as well as China, while Times Media understands that both Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns are eagerly following his situation.

But there also remains the possibility he will stay at Pirates beyond his current two-year deal, though as yet the Buccaneers have not spoken to him about a new contract.

The Chairman must make a plan, we can't lose Mam'Ruby but knowing Khoza he'll probably let him go just like he did with Rantie...

If he goes it's Bennie in another area. After the money before he retires. But I hope he stay's. Good player/entertainment and everybody loves Bennie

  • deja.skenka - 2012-12-12 12:55

Benni wud be ill-advised 2 leave Pirates and join either Chiefs or Sundowns. Either he stays put or he leaves our shores. What will he prove 2 the 'Boo Brigade?'

  • duduzile.nkosi - 2012-12-12 13:19

Benni is going nowhere, he'll stay a bucaneer as we venture into Africa

      nyathi.adolf - 2012-12-12 15:25

  • khumo.lebone - 2012-12-12 13:28

Jislaaik this is something I'm not getting at all. Fat Benni is almost 35 has a penchant for long term injuries and hasn't played full time football for quite a while now. Now someone wants to buy him??

  • khums.ziba - 2012-12-12 14:44

As much as we like him,he will leave one day that is why Pirates bought Mbhesuma.

  • rory.beckett.96 - 2012-12-12 15:16

  • luviwe.jay - 2012-12-12 15:55

What a misleading headline. It is not yet certain that he is leaving. I hope not so as to keep on improving our standard of the PSL with his skills and expirience. Look at the derby, within a short space of time he got about two to three chances once he got in.

  • rudzanimulaudzi.mulaudzi - 2012-12-12 16:26

The man never said he is leaving so stop pushing him around, by the look of things at Pirates now they still need his service.

  • sicelo.brukwe.9 - 2012-12-12 20:11

I find this article very funny because the same Kaiser Chiefs and other teams were the first people to criticize Khoza for buying a reject from overseas and same concerns were raised when we banked for Mbesuma. R we being for real or faking who we r!
