Johannesburg - Orlando Pirates striker Benni McCarthy says Pirates chairman, Irvin Khoza, was the motivating factor behind the rejuvenation of his football career.
He said that at a time when everyone, including the media, had written him off, Khoza believed in him and gave him an opportunity.
"Do you know the song by Notorious B.I.G. which says life after death? That is how I feel right now. I feel like I was dead in my football career and the chairman gave me the chance to live again in football. He gave me hope and belief that I can do it again and now here I am.
“Secondly, I thank my team-mates who have helped me achieve what I have achieved at the team so far. Two winners medals and a personal award in less than a season? That is a big achievement.
“They helped me work my socks off and the results are showing. I am happy for myself and for the team," the former South African international concluded.
