Benni: I wanted the best

Johannesburg - Benni McCarthy has signed a two-year contract with Orlando Pirates and the former Bafana Bafana striker has told the Siya crew that joining Bucs is one of the highlights in his playing career.

He told the Siya crew that he wanted to come back home and play for the best team in the country.

"It is good coming back home and joining Orlando Pirates. They are one of the top teams not only here in South Africa but the whole continent. I wanted to play for the best team and I wanted to win things with the best team.

“Pirates have the biggest supporters base and I have figured out that I can still play for a few more years to come. I have learnt a lot from playing in Europe and now it is time for me to give back to the country that made me what I am.

“Looking at the team there are many good players and we can achieve a lot with the team that we have at the moment," the former Ajax Amsterdam striker concluded.

Orlando Pirates have announced the signing of former FC Porto, Blackburn Rovers and West Ham footballer Benni McCarthy.
