Cape Town - Stuart Baxter has hailed the "courageous efforts" put on by the Kaizer Chiefs players who helped Bafana Bafana secure their successful qualification to the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.
South Africa booked their place in next year's Equatorial Guinea showpiece as Group A winners even before Wednesday's final qualifier against Nigeria, which ended 2-2.
That achievement has already earned plenty of plaudits from pundits and critics alike, and Baxter has now added his congratulations to the pile, most notably regarding his club's five representatives in the national team.
"It should be noted that Bafana Bafana's courageous efforts in the Africa Cup of Nations were due in no small measure to the contribution of the large Kaizer Chiefs contingent of Tefu Mashamaite, Eric Mathoho, Reneilwe Letsholonyane, Mandla Masango and Brilliant Khuzwayo within the squad, both individually and collectively," he told Chiefs' official website.
"The national team's improvement on recent form has sent a wave of positive optimism through the country and it will be important for the players to carry the experience into their league endeavours as the focus shifts to local affairs."
