Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter was delighted to see his side stick to their "well thought out game plan" after seeing off Township Rollers 1-0 on Saturday.

Amakhosi booked their place in the first round of the CAF Champions League thanks to a 3-1 aggregate scoreline over their Botswana opponents, having carved out a 2-1 win in Soweto in mid-February.

And Baxter admits he was proud to see the Glamour Boys manage to secure both an away goal and clean sheet to secure their place in the tournament proper.

"I'm pleased with the attitude of the players," he told Chiefs' official website.

"We came here with a delicate lead - 2-1 is not a solid lead. We had to score.

"We came here with a balanced and well thought out game plan. Attack and not concede was part of that plan."

Baxter added: "In this sort of game, away from home, discipline is important. I'm glad the players did well.

“When the pitch is bumpy, as it was today, you have to adapt to play a simple passing game."
