Baxter delighted with result

Johannesburg - Kaizer Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter has hailed his side's "fantastic result" following their 6-0 defeat of AmaZulu at the weekend.

The Glamour Boys began the new season with a flawless display against Usuthu, with Bernard Parker's four-goal haul stealing the show, while Kingston Nkhatha and Siyabonga Nkosi completed the rout.

The result came on the back of Chiefs' heavy 4-1 defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns in the MTN8 quarter-finals last weekend, but the turn-around in performance has left Baxter with little complaint.

"There's two different aspects about Saturday night; you have the performance and you have the result," he said after the game. "The result I cannot complain about at all.

"It's a fantastic result away from home against a well-drilled team that knows how to keep the ball very well. Looking at the performance, the players were very nervous early on, I don't know why.

"But thereafter we unbalanced a very good team. After the first goal, I can't complain about the performance at all, I thought we were disciplined and the attacking play was very good."

Speaking of Parker's sensational performance, Baxter added: "I think he's got all of the qualities that a modern shadow striker should possess.

"I'm very happy with the way he's playing, he approaches his job every day in a very professional way and would imagine that (Bafana Bafana coach) Gordon (Igesund) is very pleased to see what Bernard's doing at the moment."
