The Englishman has been strongly linked with a move abroad after leading Amakhosi to a second Premiership title in three years, while they also lifted the MTN8 trophy in the early stages of the recently-concluded PSL campaign.
And, while Baxter has confirmed he is in discussion with the Soweto giants over his future, his tone seems to suggest his time with the Glamour Boys is coming to an end.
"I'm just really seriously weighing up what the future holds for me, because over the last three years during my time here there have been serious issues that I've not been happy with," the coach is quoted as saying by Soccer Laduma.
"I've got to make a decision sooner rather than later, but conversations are still ongoing with the club."
The news is a third major hammer blow to the Chiefs setup, with earlier reports suggesting Itumeleng Khune and Tefu Mashamaite have played their last games for the club after failing to agree contract extensions.
