Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs head coach Stuart Baxter is optimistic that newly signed striker, Katlego Mphela, will shine at Naturena following his move from Mamelodi Sundowns last month.
Mphela, who is currently on loan from the Brazilians until the end of the season, made his debut for Chiefs in a 2-2 stalemate against Maritzburg United at the Harry Gwala Stadium on Tuesday.
Speaking to Chiefs’ official website, Baxter said “Killer” is yet to grow accustomed to their style of play, but remains confident that he’ll come good.
“Mphela got himself into two decent chances within a short space of time. He is not physically in the shape he wants to be and also doesn’t understand completely the way we play.
“Mind you, he has done only four training sessions since he signed for the club. I am sure Katlego will be a major asset for Chiefs going forward.”
Mphela will join the Phefeni Glamour Boys on a permanent deal next season and has already penned a three-year-deal which will run from July 1.
