Bartlett denies Pelembe deal

Cape Town - Golden Arrows head coach Shaun Bartlett denies that the club secured the services of Mozambican forward Helder Pelembe during the transfer window, which closed last Friday.

On Monday morning, Arrows spokesman Vusi Vilakazi was reported to have confirmed the deal had been finalised and that Pelembe was heading to the East Coast.

However, despite those claims, there was no statement issued by Pirates or Arrows on the matter, and now Bartlett has sought to nip those rumours in the bud.

"Helder Pelembe is not with Golden Arrows," Bartlett told Soccer Laduma.

"Maybe there was an interest, but nothing materialised from that.

“He has not trained with our team at all during this time," added the former South Africa international.

That Pelembe has made just one appearance for Pirates this season has already been well documented and it has probably fuelled speculation about a possible departure.
