Cape Town - Former South Africa striker Shaun Bartlett has urged Shakes Mashaba to consider Kermit Erasmus for the current national squad.
Earlier this month, Erasmus was called up as a replacement for Tokelo Rantie, but rejected the invitation after revealing his displeasure at being considered second choice.
And, former Golden Arrows boss Bartlett is under the same impression, and feels Erasmus is just the type of player needed to take the country's national team forward.
"Maybe the philosophy of the coach doesn't fit what Kermit is doing right now," Bartlett told Soccer Laduma.
"As a person I think we need Kermit in the national team.
"He is on form and just like Gabuza, he has been scoring goals for Pirates and that's what we need at national team level where goals are scares."
