Barker identifies AmaZulu's errors

Cape Town - AmaZulu coach Steve Barker said he has identified areas that they would need to improve on ahead of the NFD season.

The KwaZulu-Natal side beat Mthatha Bucks 2-1 before losing 3-1 in the second and last friendly game ahead of the new 2015/16 season.

AmaZulu begin their National First Division season when they take on Witbank Aces at the King Zwelithini Stadium on Saturday, August 22.

"It’s good to have a solid friendly before the season starts, there were some positives and also areas that we still need to improve on,” Barker said on AmaZulu's website.

"Fortunately this gives us time to work on those areas before the league starts.”

"It was all about ensuring the players get 90 minutes of football, and then the last 20 minutes we threw in three of our Under-17 players so as to also give them that opportunity to see how they cope.

"Overall I’m pleased that we identified the areas to improve.

Talking about his opponents, Barker said that the Mthatha-based side will surprise a few NFD clubs.

"Obviously it’s not easy when you’ve just been promoted to have a side ready to compete, but Mthatha Bucks showed they’ve got a good side that can surprise a lot of teams."
