Barker gets Liphoko's backing

Cape Town – AmaZulu midfielder Tshepo Liphoko expects new coach Steve Barker to turn things around at the club.

Speaking to Usuthu’s official website, Liphoko reveals that the former University of Pretoria coach has already brought the smiles back to the AmaZulu players.

“In my opinion he will help us a lot,” said Liphoko.

“The few days we have been with him, he has encouraged us a lot.

“He urges us to make jokes and laugh, but as soon as we take to the field be it for training or on game day he wants us to be serious and to work hard.”

Barker left AmaTuks after six years at the Pretoria club but now turns the page on a new chapter in his career and Liphoko maintains that the 46-year-old coach has what it takes to lift them out of the relegation zone.

“He tells us that we are good players that we have to be united, work for each other.

“He wants us to enjoy training despite the position we find ourselves in, and that makes things easier, not worrying about our current situation.”
