Bapela pleased with Diski team

Cape Town - Coach Alex Bapela says he was pleased with the Mamelodi Sundowns side that did duty at the Multichoice Diski Challenge in Cape Town.

“We went there to win the match and that is what the boys did even after going a goal down,” said Bapela.

Bapela, who is Pitso Mosimane's assistant with Sundowns' first team, admits that it is difficult to tactically plan ahead in such competitions with no recognised players involved.

“It’s not as easy to plan for the opponents in this kind of competition because most players are pretty unknown but I’m very pleased with the character shown by the team”

‘Downs came back from a goal down to edge Free State Stars 2-1.

Stars went 1-0 up in the 30th minute but The Brazilans showed their mantle as they fought back, thanks to goals from Thamsanqa Mayisa and Bongi Ntuli late in the second half.

Sundowns are now tied second in Group B on three points with Mpumalanga Black Aces and Orlando Pirates.
