Appiah: We will die for Sono

Johannesburg - Jomo Cosmos defender Ofosu Appiah says they will 'die on the field' for Jomo Sono as they battle to avoid what seems like certain relegation to the National First Division.

Ezenkhosi have spent almost the entire season at the bottom of the table, and while they have two games in hand over relegation rivals Santos and one over Black Leopards, they are also seven points below them.

Sono's men come up against AmaZulu on Wednesday, followed by Maritzburg United, Lidoda Duvha and the People's Team to end the season.

They need to win all those games, though, and with only two wins in the bank this term it will take all Sono's experience to rescue the sinking ship.

Appiah said: "We are professionals but, at the end of the day, thoughts of the team not surviving ... it's not a good feeling.

"We need to survive, not just in tomorrow's (Wednesday) league match against AmaZulu, but in the three matches after.

"We have to do it for (chairman and coach) Jomo Sono. He has done a lot for us and the club."

He added that they would fight till the end, saying: "If you don't want to be killed then you have to kill.

"The best way to defend is to attack, and that is what we will have to do...and then hope.

"We will die for Sono on the field in our last matches."
