Pretoria - With only two games remaining in
their season, University of Pretoria striker Atusaye Nyondo said the team’s
primary mandate is to finish inside the Top 8.
Nyondo was speaking following their 1-1
stalemate against struggling Moroka Swallows at Tuks Stadium on Wednesday night.
Nyondo was on target for the Students, while
veteran striker Siyabonga Nomvethe found the net for the Dube Birds.
The Malawian international said AmaTuks
battled to dominate the encounter as the Soweto giants managed to close down
the space to deny them from playing their normal passing game.
“Of course sometimes we must play for the
team,” said Nyondo.
“It was tough for us in the first half because
they were closing down the space.
“But we managed to open them up in the
second half and equalised.
“The game was really vital for us because we
want to qualify for the Top 8.
“We still have to two games left and we’ll
fight harder to manage to earn ourselves a Top 8 spot, because it’s been a long
time since we have been there.”
AmaTuks will face the relegation threatened
AmaZulu in their next league clash at home next week Wednesday.
