Alexander after more success

Cape Town - Cole Alexander turns 26 today and is reaching the prime of his career – Sport24 chatted to the much sought after midfielder about his ambitions for the coming season.

With football fans around the country keeping a close eye on a potential move abroad for the Cape Town-born star, he has revealed that his mind is firmly set on preparing for the upcoming season with Polokwane City.

“I’m back with Polokwane and in full training with the team,” he said.

“It feels great to be here, it’s just that pre-season is very tough.

“I’m still under contract and very committed,” he insisted.

“It is my Birthday today so my family came down to Polokwane for me.”

Despite it being his special day, Alexander still took the time to chat about his game and his ambitions for next season.

“There’s so much I can still improve on, both with my attacking and defending part of the game.

“All round I know I can still improve and I am so hungry to do better than last season.

“It felt great to be a nominee (for PSL player of the season) but that was just a sniff of what is out there.

“It has made me hungry to achieve bigger and better things here,” he concluded.

Alexander has been heavily linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs at the end of last season but those rumours appear to have disappeared.

He is also said to be a target of a number of European clubs but with a year to run on his contract one would expect that Polokwane City would be asking for a hefty fee for their talisman.

Sport24 wish Cole Alexander a happy birthday and a great season ahead.
