Johannesburg - Despite reports linking Lebogang Manyama with a move to Johannesburg, Ajax Cape Town are looking to extend the striker’s stay with the club.
According to the Soccer-Laduma website, it had been thought that the 22-year-old was due to see his contract with the club expire in June, with several clubs lying in wait should he fail to agree on a new deal.
However, Ajax’s CEO, George Comitis, has explained to the Siya crew that Manyama still has one year left to run on his contract at Ikamva and that the club is looking to offer him an extension.
Comitis said, "Manyama is here, he’s got another year on his contract and we’re also busy trying to extend his contract at the moment."
The forward has done well for the Urban Warriors this season, scoring five goals in the league for them, including two crucial goals against Kaizer Chiefs earlier this month.
There has been speculation that a number of Johannesburg-based clubs have been keeping a close eye on Manyama, although it seems that Ajax are eager to keep hold of attacker for the foreseeable future.
