Ajax seek catch up victory

Cape Town - Bloemfontein Celtic and Ajax Cape Town will battle for three Absa Premiership points when they meet at Kaizer Sebothelo Stadium.

Celtic claimed a second win from their last three matches when they defeated Chippa United 2-1 away in midweek.

The Bloemfontein side has claimed 20 points from 13 home matches this season.

Their remaining league opponents are Free State Stars (home) and Moroka Swallows (away).

Phunya Sele Sele are placed fifth on the Absa Premiership log with 40 points from 27 matches.

Ajax suffered a second successive 1-0 loss in the league when they went down away to Maritzburg United in midweek.

The Cape Town side has claimed nine points from 14 away matches this season.

Their remaining league opponents are Moroka Swallows and Orlando Pirates (both home).

The Urban Warriors are placed sixth on the Absa Premiership log with 37 points from 27 matches.

In head-to-head stats, Celtic and Ajax have met in 25 league matches since 1999/2000.

The Urban Warriors have 10 wins compared to nine for Phunya Sele Sele, while six matches have been drawn.

Celtic have won eight of their 12 home matches against Ajax, suffering one defeat in the process.

When the teams met earlier this season, the Urban Warriors claimed a 1-0 home win thanks to a goal from Scott.

Kick-off is at 15:00 on Sunday, May 3.
