Ajax quiet on Booth rumours

Cape Town - Ajax Cape Town remain tight lipped over reports former Bafana Bafana defender Matthew Booth has signed a one-year deal at the club, with the option to renew. The 34-year-old has spent the past few months as a free agent after being released by Mamelodi Sundowns prior to the start of the 2011/12 campaign.

The centre-back, who began his professional career in the Mother City with Cape Town Spurs in 1994, claimed he underwent a medical at the Cape Town Stadium last Friday and was waiting on Ajax's board to ratify a move.

Reports on Tuesday claim Booth has finally put pen to a one-year deal with Maarten Stekelenburg's men, although the PSL outfit would not confirm or deny the rumours.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
