Ajax out to hinder Bucs CAF hopes

Cape Town - Ajax Cape Town will host an Orlando Pirates side looking to secure third place in the Absa Premiership at the Cape Town Stadium.

Ajax recorded a second successive victory when they defeated Moroka Swallows 2-1 at home in midweek.

The Cape Town side has claimed 31 points from 14 home matches this season.

The Urban Warriors are placed fifth on the Absa Premiership log with 43 points from 29 matches.

Pirates played to a 1-1 draw in midweek, as they were held away at Maritzburg United.

The Soweto side has claimed 21 points from 14 away matches this season.

The Buccaneers are placed third on the Absa Premiership log with 49 points from 29 matches.

In head-to-head stats, Ajax and Pirates have met in 31 league matches since 1999/2000.

The Buccaneers have claimed 17 wins compared to six for the Urban Warriors, while eight matches have been drawn.

Ajax have won four of their 15 home matches against Ajax, suffering five defeats in the process.

When the teams met earlier this season, the Buccaneers cruised to an emphatic 4-0 home win.

Kick-off is at 15:00 on Saturday, May 9.
