Cape Town - Following reports stating that Ajax Cape Town have accepted a R7m offer from Mamelodi Sundowns for the services of midfielder Keagan Dolly, the Urban Warriors’ spokesperson Milo Boer says there is no official confirmation on the story.
Following a tremendous season with Ajax, Dolly has been in hot pursuit during the PSL transfer window period.
The three giants of South African football, Sundowns, Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs, have been chasing the signature of the 21-year-old since the beginning of the off-season period.
Recent reports suggest that the two Soweto giants, Chiefs and Pirates, have thrown in the towel on recruiting the young star which leaves Sundowns as the only remaining team in pursuit of Dolley.
Boer on Thursday told Sport24 in an exclusive interview that there’s no communication between Ajax and Sundowns regarding the player’s move.
Boer also confirmed that the Johannesburg-born player is training with the rest of the Ajax squad.
“There is no official confirmation on that,” said Boer.
“Whenever any of our players leave the club, we always send out press releases or publish the statement on our official website.
“Not only to Keagan, it also applies to every player as you might have seen it recently. Keagan is still our player until something happens. As we speak right now, he is training with the rest of our players here.
“We don’t know what might happen though, but as things stand he is still an Ajax player. There is a possibility that he will be with us for the upcoming season as well. That’s all I can say for now.”
Dolly won the ABSA Premiership Young Player of season in the last campaign.
It remains to be seen where the young star will be playing his football in the 2014/15 season.
