Cape Town - Ajax Cape Town produced a ruthless display as they kicked off their Nedbank Cup campaign with a 9-1 demolition of Mainstay United at the GWK Stadium on Sunday.

The Urban Warriors got off to a flying start in Kimberley and went ahead after just 10 minutes as Franklin Cale drew first blood, while Toriq Losper added a second 13 minutes later.

Roger de Sa's men continued to run rampant and went 3-0 up with half an hour gone as Cale grabbed his second, while Losper also completed his brace just one minute later to give the Mother City outfit a commanding half-time lead.

The Capetonians would have to wait until the 68th minute before adding another goal, with Robin Ngalande getting on the end of Thabiso Nkoana's delivery to make it 5-0.

That strike would again open the floodgates as Abbubaker Mobara's thunderous effort after 73 minutes made it six, before Noah Sadaoui added a seventh just two minutes later.

The hosts finally found a way through 11 minutes from time as they pulled one back, although Ajax got right back to the business of scoring goals as Sadaoui grabbed his second nine minutes from time.

Ngalande would also not be denied a brace as he took the score to 9-1 with two minutes of normal time remaining to compound an afternoon of misery for the Northern Cape hosts.
