Ajax aiming to bounce back

Cape Town - Ajax Cape Town will look to return to winning ways in the PSL when they host Platinum Stars at the Cape Town Stadium.

Roger de Sa’s side suffered a second successive defeat when they were beaten 1-0 at home by Kaizer Chiefs on the weekend.

The Cape Town side has won three of their four home matches so far this season.

The Urban Warriors are placed fifth on the Absa Premiership log with 14 points from eight matches.

Stars’ winless streak was extended to five league matches when they were beaten 3-1 away by Maritzburg United on the weekend.

The Rustenburg team has claimed three points from four away matches this season.

Dikwena are placed 13th on the Absa Premiership log with eight points from as many matches.

In head-to-head stats, Ajax and Stars have met in 22 league matches since 2003/04.

The Urban Warriors have 10 wins compared to six for Dikwena, while six matches have been drawn.

Ajax have won six of their 11 home matches against Stars down the years, suffering just two defeats in the process.

Last season, Dikwena completed a league ‘double’ over the Urban Warriors, winning 2-0 in Cape Town and 3-0 in Rustenburg.

Kick-off at the Cape Town Stadium is scheduled for 19:30 on Wednesday, October 22.
