Ajax Cape Town postpone two fixtures

Cape Town - Following the death of influential defender Cecil Lolo, Ajax Cape Town have postponed PSL matches against Platinum Stars and Golden Arrows.

Lolo, described by Ajax Cape Town as "incredibly talented and beloved warrior", passed away on Sunday following a motor vehicle collision which claimed his life and that of one other person.

The 27-year-old defender was a stalwart of Roger de Sa's side, having been at the Cape Town-based club for over 10 years after joining the youth academy.

“We will miss him terribly." Ajax Cape Town CEO, Ari Efstathiou, said in a club statement.

"All of us, his team mates, the kids in the academy, the staff and all our supporters. It’s a void that just can’t be filled. The only motivation that is left is that we dedicate the season to him and make sure that his memory is remembered in the success of this 2015 season,” commented CEO, Ari Efstathiou.

“Watch us from above and guide us like you did when you were with us.

"Your laughter and wonderful personality will remain in our hearts forever. Rest in Peace our Warrior,” concluded Efstathiou.

The Urban Warriors confirmed the two league outings would be postponed via Twitter on Monday. New dates for the fixtures were not yet allocated.

Sport24 would like to extend its condolences to Lolo's family and friends and to Ajax Cape Town players and staff.
