Cape Town - Premier Soccer League strugglers Ajax Cape Town have signed Turkish manager Muhsin Ertugral as their new Technical Director.
Ajax’s CEO, George Comitis, confirmed the news to the Soccer Laduma website, saying the role will be effective immediately.
It remains to be seen what lies ahead for the current head coach, Jan Versleijen, who may be set to leave the club.
Ajax are currently battling for survival in the PSL and lie second from bottom with four matches remaining. Their next game is on Saturday against fellow relegation strugglers, Chippa United, at the Phillipi Stadium.
Ertugral, 53, is likely to be offered the role of head coach should he help Ajax avoid relegation.
Ertugral coached Ajax back in 2006/07 and also in 2009 but is better known for taking charge of Kaizer Chiefs from 1999-2003 and again from 2007-2009. He also coached Golden Arrows last season.
