Cape Town - Ajax Cape Town have issued an apology to their fans after they were made to sit in the sweltering heat during Sunday's Premiership clash against SuperSport United.

Temperatures in the Mother City soared well over 30 degrees Celsius this weekend, and the Urban Warriors' supporters were made to bear the full brunt of the African sun after the club set up television cameras in the shaded area of the Athlone Stadium, while fans were seated in the opposite stand.

Those Capetonians who made their way out to watch the match were left hot under the collar after watching their side fail to find the back of the net as their clash against Matsatsantsa finished goalless, and the Ikamva outfit have since moved to ask for their forgiveness.

A statement on the club's official website read: 'Dear Ajax Cape Town fans.

'We truly appreciate each and every one who continuously supports the team, no matter what the circumstances and conditions are.

'We would like to sincerely apologise to our fans that they had to endure such extremely hot conditions at Athlone Stadium.

'We will do our best to cater for such conditions in the future

'The main camera was set up on the opposite side to where the fans were asked to sit and we wanted them to capture all of our die-hard Ajax Cape Town fans who came out to support the team and show the loyal Urban Warrior supporters.'
