Ajax: Allie is a legend

Cape Town - Ajax Cape Town have paid tribute to departing captain Nazeer Allie, stating that he will go down in history as a legend of the club.

The Urban Warriors released a statement on their official website stating that the club will be "eternally grateful for his contribution".

"Nazeer Allie has earned a spot among the top names at Ajax Cape Town over the years, however, the time has come for us to bid a farewell to Allie as he continues his football career elsewhere.

"Allie joined the highly prestigious Ajax Cape Town youth academy in 2000 and stood out in each team he played in throughout the various age groups.

"Zierie, as he is affectionately known to his teammates, started to earn the respect of not only the guys he shared a dressing room with on a daily basis, but also every Ajax Cape Town fan.

"Some of the many highlights of Allie’s career include becoming captain of the team, winning numerous Absa Premiership Man of the Match awards as well as gaining over 150 caps with the first team, which also led to National Team call ups.

Nazeer Allie has surely built himself up to earn a place as one of the best ever players to wear the Red-and-White of Ajax Cape Town. We are eternally grateful for his contribution to the club for over a decade. We wish Nazeer all of the best with his future endeavours."

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
