Aces eager to defeat Pirates

Cape Town - Black Aces will look to reclaim top spot on the Absa Premiership log when they travel to Orlando Stadium to tackle Orlando Pirates.

Pirates suffered their second defeat of the season when they were beaten 1-0 at Bloemfontein Celtic on August 26.

The Soweto side’s previous home game was a 4-1 thrashing of Chippa United.

The Buccaneers are placed 12th on the Absa Premiership log with three points from as many matches.

Aces claimed their second win of the season when they defeated Mamelodi Sundowns 1-0 on August 25.

The Mpumalanga side’s previous away match was a 1-0 win at Free State Stars on the opening weekend of the campaign.

AmaZayoni are placed sixth on the Absa Premiership log with seven points from three matches.

In head-to-head stats, Pirates and Aces have met in 33 league matches since 1985.

The Buccaneers have 14 wins compared to nine for AmaZayoni, while 10 matches have been drawn.

Pirates have won seven of their 16 home matches against Aces, suffering six defeats in the process.

Last season AmaZayoni won 2-1 at home in the first half of the season, while Bucs replied in kind with a 2-1 win in the return game in Soweto.

These teams have not played to a goalless draw with one another in the league since 1992.
