Sport24 have been informed that the two teams are both in negotiations with Amazulu and the player’s agent over a deal that will see him remain in the PSL.
According to the source, Dikwena have long had their eyes on Van Herdeen, who is expected to be their first choice left back after the club decided against signing Punch Masenamela, who was on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns last season.
Amazayoni on the other hand wanted to sign Keegan Ritchie from Bloemfontein Celtic, but the defender has opted for a return to Kaizer Chiefs, and now Aces are focusing on winning the race for Van Herdeen.
“I think it is going to go down to the highest bidder as well as the choice of the player and his agent, but both clubs are interested in the defender,” said the source.
The defender had an outstanding game for Bafana Bafana in yesterday CHAN encounter at Dobsonville Stadium, where he set up the first goal for Thamsanqa Gabuza.
Amazulu coach, Steve Barker, who has committed to lead Usuthu in the National First Division next season, said the club is still discussing the way forward and will reveal their plans in the coming week.
“Nothing is finalised on our players at the moment, but we will be revealing the future of the players within the next week or so,” Barker said.
