Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns are suffering something of an injury crisis after coach Pitso Mosimane revealed that multiple players are injured or doubtful for Saturday's Telkom Knockout quarter-final clash with SuperSport United.
Four players who featured in the CAF Champions League final second leg against Zamalek are injured, as well as some other members of the squad.
Soumahoro Bangaly, Anele Ngcongca, Keagan Dolly, Anthony Laffor, Asavela Mbekile and Leonardo Castro are among the players who are in doubt for the Tshwane derby.
However, the club showed they have depth and quality when they defeated Polokwane City 2-0 in the Premiership last Wednesday.
As such, Mosimane has explained his side will not use injuries as an excuse for underperformance against SuperSport. Matsatsantsa are coming off a 6-1 thrashing of Orlando Pirates.
"It's a totally different game on Saturday because firstly it's a derby and secondly a cup. I always believe cup games have a different tempo and emotions.
"We still have important players who played in the last Champions League game against Zamalek who are not yet back. But we've played without them and won, so it should not be an excuse."
Kick off is at 16:00.
