Johannesburg - Mamelodi Sundowns coach Johan Neeskens believes that his side was by far the best team on the pitch in their 1-0 win over University of Pretoria in the Telkom Knockout on Tuesday.
The Dutchman has been under immense pressure after a string of poor results, but finally saw his side get back to winning ways as they progressed to the quarter-finals of the cup tournament.
"The last two weeks, we did very well in practice. I saw a lot of positive things, and I was hoping to see it today and I must say I am very happy. We were the best team on the field today and we deserved to win," he said.
"Unfortunately it was only one goal, we had many other opportunities and by far the best team was us.
"That is always like that, if you don't take more scores out of your chances, sometimes it is difficult to win the game, because it is only 1-0.
"I'm also happy that at least we create chances, because it will be a lot more of a problems if we don't create chances."
The coach also took the chance to send a message to the fans saying, "I want to thank our fans that have faith in the team, that stand behind the team - keep supporting us and things are going to get better."
