Monaco to learn fate

Paris - Monaco will find out on Thursday whether they have been successful in an appeal against a two-point deduction, club lawyer Patricia Moyersoen said Wednesday.

Monaco were hit with a two-point penalty, plus an extra point suspended, and told to play one match behind closed doors in a Ligue 1 disciplinary commission decision on June 27.

It was handed down following a Ligue 2 match against Le Mans on May 17 when fans set off flares and invaded the pitch after the club secured promotion back to the top flight, while one fan attacked the referee.

"The decision will be revealed tomorrow (Thursday), that's what the commission has told us," Moyersoen told AFP.

"AS Monaco should be treated like any other club. The first sanction is extremely harsh, totally disproportionate in relation to other incidents.

"There was some breaching, pitch invasions are not allowed and it's normal that you are penalised, but it has to be proportional.

"You deduct points when it's something serious, this wasn't serious."

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
