Cape Town - Newly signed Djurgardens IF winger Mark Mayambela says he feels honoured and privileged to be handed another opportunity to revive his career in the Swedish league.
Mayambela, 26, on Monday completed his move to the Swedish outfit after signing a three-year deal.
This followed a successful trial period last month.
“It is a privilege for me and an honour that I have been given a lifeline,” Mayambela told Sport24.
“I’m happy given the fact that most people wrote me off.”
The “Professor” is currently in Spain with his new team-mates for an off-season camp and he revealed they will play few games as part of the upcoming season’s preparations.
“The preparations are going well, now we are in Spain for a 10-day camp and we are playing two friendly games against Spartak Moscow and Lokomotiv Moscow. I am looking forward to it."
Prior to his move to Sweden, the former Orlando Pirates winger had a short spell with Mpumalanga Black Aces before parting ways with the Premier Soccer League (PSL) rookies, reportedly for arriving at training under the influence of alcohol with team-mate, Mkhanyiseli Siwahla, who has since joined National First Division (NFD) side Chippa United.
