Johannesburg - Daine Klate is backing SuperSport to recover from their recent slump, but only after their Telkom Knockout duel with Orlando Pirates.
The left winger spent eight years with Matsatsantsa, before making the switch to Parktown at the start of the season. He helped United land three league titles and still has a deep bond with the club.
When asked about SuperSport's poor league form and their failure in cup competitions, Klate said: "I played for them and this is normal - it happens almost every season.
"The team went through worse in the past but at the end they still won the league."
Klate, who is often referred to as Bucs' lucky charm, has some advice for his team-mates: do not expect Gavin Hunt's men to merely roll over as the three-time PSL winners possess a fighting spirit.
"We have to go to Pretoria with the right attitude - fight for the victory and move on to the next round," he said of Saturday's clash at Loftus.
"We must give them the respect they deserve, but in the back of our minds, we must never forget that we are going to war and we have to win."
Hunt, meanwhile, has no special plans to stop 'DK7', who was one of his best players.
"I know what he can do, but I am not going to work my game plan around one player," said the coach.
Lyle Lakay is expected to be Klate's replacement on SuperSport's left flank and his predecessor has some kind words for him.
"I reckon Lakay, who is only 19, will be star of the future," Klate said.
"I believe Lakay has plenty of potential and now that I am gone, he might get his chance to show what he can do."
