Stone victim Mweene recovered

Johannesburg - Zambia goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene says he was not seriously injured and has fully recovered after he was struck by a stone on Wednesday night.

Mweene needed stitches to his head after two boys, aged 12 and 13, shattered a window of the Zambian team's bus, following their 1-0 win over Bafana Bafana in the Nelson Mandela Challenge at FNB Stadium.

"They were two small boys, I think around 12, and it's one of those things. Fortunately I wasn't too injured," Mweene said on Sunday.

Mweene was speaking in a television interview after his Free State Stars outfit lost 3-2 against Bloemfontein Celtic in their Telkom Knockout semi-final in Phuthaditjhaba.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
