Cape Town - Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere has echoed the sentiments of his boss Arsene Wenger in criticising the officiating in Sunday’s Carabao Cup final.
Arsenal were well beaten by Manchester City at Wembley, with goals from Sergio Aguero, Vincent Kompany and David Silva giving City a comfortable win in a game which they dominated.
Several Gunners’ players including Wilshere were slammed by pundits and fans after the game for their underwhelming showing, with Wenger claiming City’s second goal should have been ruled out for offside.
Now, Wilshere has gone a step further, pointing the finger at referee Graig Pawson on Instagram.
Wilshere’s post read: "Hard to put into words my emotions about yesterday.
"City are a good team and deserved to win. A lot of people have had their say on us and we have to accept criticism when we lose.
"That being said I can't accept some of the decisions that went against us yesterday.
"Whatever you say about the first goal, it is a foul. The second goal is offside.
"There should have been a second yellow in the first half. Yes, this happens in football but it is still hard to accept.
"And people will say we are looking for excuses but these are facts. Anyway we need to respond, starting on Thursday.
"Thanks to all the Gooners for your support and trust me we feel the same but we need to stick together."
Arsenal's next game is a rematch with City in the Premier League at the Emirates on Thursday.
The Gunners are currently 27 points behind leaders City.
