WATCH: Should Salah have won the Puskas Award?

Cape Town - Mohamed Salah saw off strong competition notably from Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo to win the Puskas Award for best goal at FIFA's The Best Awards in London on Monday

According to supersport.com, the Liverpool and Egypt forward bagged the award for his strike against Everton, which saw him wriggle past three defenders before curling home.

Ten goals were nominated for the award, including strikes from Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Ricardo Quaresma, while Bale's spectacular overhead kick in the Champions League Final was also among the nominees.

Denis Cheryshev, Lazaros Christodoulopoulos, Giorgian De Arrascaeta, Riley McGree and Benjamin Pavard completed the list of 10 nominees.

However, Salah's special goal against Liverpool's local rivals was voted the most befitting of the award.
