WATCH: 'Keeper left red-faced after bizarre penalty

Cape Town - A goalkeeper in Thailand faced the ultimate humiliation after he wildly celebrated a penalty miss, only for it backspin across the line!

According to the Daily Sun website, the cup semi-final between Bangkok Sports Club and Satri Angthong went straight to penalties as the scores were deadlocked at 2-2 after regular time.

With the penalty shootout scores tied at 19-19, the Bangkok Sports Club 'keeper stepped up to the spot to attempt to give his side the lead.

How he did so has to be seen to be believed however!

His kick crashed into the crossbar and shot high into the air. Satri Angthong's 'keeper started to celebrate wildly and had sprinted out of his box before the ball had even landed.

Upon landing the ball spun backwards and, remarkably, made its way into the back of the net!

"The penalty shootout was going on for a long time. Both teams were scoring every time. They were good quality," said Phakawat Kunpatee, who captured the incredible footage.

"Then it looked like the other team had lost because they missed. Everybody thought it was over and the crowd was cheering.

"The ball bounced and then started going backwards. The crowd saw it but the goalkeeper didn't. It went back into the goal then the other team missed.

"It was funny, but the goalkeeper felt like a bit silly after. He looked like he was going to cry."
