Cape Town - Real Madrid kept tabs on Ajax Amsterdam stars Donny van de Beek, Hakim Ziyech and David Neres when the Dutch club played Valencia.
Los Blancos were heavily linked with Van de Beek throughout the summer and talks between the club and the player took place, but instead they put all of their efforts into an ultimately unsuccessful bid to land Paul Pogba from Manchester United.
With United unwilling to budge on their valuation of Pogba, despite the midfielder’s struggle for form, Real are looking at other options and Van de Beek fits the bill.
Ziyech was tipped to depart the Netherlands after his impressive displays in the Champions League last season as Ajax reached the semi-finals.
Sevilla were the only club to make a serious move for Ziyech and he opted to remain with Ajax as he didn’t feel Los Rojiblancos were a significant step-up – but a move to Real could appeal.
Neres is also thought to be in Real’s thoughts although they will face plenty of competition for the 22-year-old.
Manchester United were thought to be keen on the Brazilian during the summer, while Juventus have also been linked and reports this week claim Liverpool are plotting a swoop in the January transfer window.
