Cape Town - Paris Saint-Germain manager Unai Emery believes Saturday's 3-0 win over Lille in Ligue 1 is good preparation for the upcoming Champions League clash with Real Madrid on 14 February.
Goals from Yuri Berchiche, Giovani Lo Celso and Neymar saw the runaway league leaders to a comfortable victory at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy on Saturday evening.
PSG enjoy an 11-point lead over Olympique de Marseille in second spot and Emery is already thinking about the Champions League Round-of-16 tie with the reigning European champions later this month at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu.
He told reporters after the game: "The best preparation for the match against Real Madrid is to be competitive in every match. We have passed the test here in Lille. In the first half we didn't control the game we would like to. We conceded far too many transitions.
"But we put things right in the final quarter of an hour of the first half and in the second half, and we found the spaces much better in their half. They defended well.
"But we showed patience and, in the end, we deserved the three points. The important thing was to win the game, not concede a goal and improve our rhythm, especially for Lassana Diarra."
Before facing Los Blancos, the Parisians face Ligue 2 outfit Sochaux on 6 February in the Coupe de France before turning their attentions to Toulouse four days later in the league.
