Kane not looking to avoid any teams in Russia

Cape Town - England striker Harry Kane insists he is not hoping to avoid any specific teams as he awaits the 2018 Soccer World Cup draw, which takes place in Russia on Friday.

The Tottenham star is looking forward to participating in his first World Cup next year and is eager to take on any country the Three Lions are drawn against.

The 32 nations will be drawn into eight groups of four, with the top two in each group qualifying for the knockout stage. Gareth Southgate's side are one of the second seeds.

"I'm not one to really think about trying to avoid teams," Kane told the FIFA website.

"If you want to win a big tournament, you're going to have to play the best teams sooner or later.

"We're positive, but we're not getting too ahead of ourselves. We know we've still got a lot of work to do and we've got some great friendly games coming up between now and the finals.

"It's a great feeling to qualify. It'll be my first World Cup, I'm really excited about that, so it's just about focusing on the games ahead and looking forward to the finals."
