Chelsea and Manchester United have been encouraged in their pursuit of Miralem Pjanic after Juventus reportedly lowered their asking price to below €50 million.

Pjanic has been a key figure in the Juventus midfield since joining the club in 2016, but those days as a lynchpin for the Turin side may soon be over.

The Bosnia-Herzegovina international has recently turned 30, and although he remains under contract until 2023, he is no longer deemed unsellable by the Serie A champions.

Il Bianconero have done the number-crunching, working out that selling Pjanic with the duration remaining on his contract would save them around €11 million per year.

The report adds that Pjanic's value has also dropped because of a downturn in form, which has seen Rodrigo Bentancur overtake him in the pecking order under Maurizio Sarri.

While he was once valued at €60 million, Juventus now say that Juventus could sell him for somewhere between €45 million and €50 million.

That update is sure to be of interest to Chelsea, who have been linked with Pjanic as part of a triple raid on Serie A.

Pjanic still has plenty to offer at the top level, so a price lower than €50m would definitely be worth paying - although it may also catch the attention of Manchester United.

Reports elsewhere have indicated that Juventus could use Pjanic as bait in their efforts to re-sign Paul Pogba from Man Utd, with the opportunity to sign a direct replacement potentially tempting the Old Trafford club.
