Madrid - Spain and Chelsea striker Diego Costa suffered an ankle injury in training on Sunday which could rule him out of Tuesday's friendly international against France, his country's football federation said.
"He stays with the squad but his participation in the game on Tuesday in Paris is uncertain," said Spanish officials in a statement.
The Chelsea forward underwent a series of tests after having to leave the session.
Costa scored one of the goals in Spain's 4-1 win over Israel in a World Cup qualifier in Gijon on Friday.
Spain and Italy lead Group G with 13 points each after five matches.
Meanwhile, England and defending champions Germany remained on course for the 2018 World Cup on Sunday while Danny Blind was sacked as Dutch coach after his misfiring team faced missing a second straight major finals.
