Herrera: We have the chance to fix it

Cape Town - Ander Herrera says Manchester United must respond to their derby defeat to Manchester City with a commanding display against Feyenoord in the Europa League on Thursday.

The Red Devils were undone at Old Trafford by their city rivals where an impressive second-half display couldn't make up for a poor opening 45 minutes in which they conceded twice.

And Herrera, who came on as a half-time substitute for Henrikh Mkhitaryan, is determined to claim a victory at the Stadion Feijenoord in Rotterdam.

He said: "When you lose the derby, I cannot lie, it was a tough day, a very tough weekend for us and for our fans because it is a game your life depends on for the next week.

"I like to train but I prefer to play as many games as possible. After the defeat against Man City, we have the chance to fix it tomorrow. We want to do it, we want to show the fans we are here to win every game."

He added: "This match is a good challenge for all of us. The way we have reacted we have to show in this traditional stadium against a historic team. I like football and I like to play against the best teams and Feyenoord is one of them in Holland."

Herrera also explained how he feels towards United boss Jose Mourinho when he said: "We are very, very comfortable with this manager. Every training session we are enjoying. I feel very good when I have played. I feel his confidence every day and I think all my team-mates are the same."

While Mourinho has omitted Antonio Valencia, Luke Shaw, Jesse Lingard, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Wayne Rooney from the 20-man squad that flew to the Netherlands on Wednesday afternoon, Phil Jones is an injury absentee.
