Griezmann snubs EPL, signs fresh deal with Atletico

Madrid - Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann has signed a fresh deal with Atletico Madrid keeping the France international at the La Liga side until 2021.

The star forward "has renewed its contract with our club until June 30, 2021," announced Atletico in a statement on Thursday.

"I'm very satisfied, very happy to keep belonging to this family and this project," Griezmann said.

"I want to improve every year, and the club, the coaches and my teammates can help me to reach this goal”

It said the 25-year-old "has enjoyed two excellent seasons in our team" since 2014 with a 57-goal haul.

Griezmann is currently on duty with France at Euro 2016, scoring in the tournament hosts' 2-0 win over Albania last week.

The new deal sees Griezmann extending his time at the Champions League finalists by an additional season.

"Personally I'd like to score more goals, have more time and matches to play, assist more... My goal is always to be better than the last season," said Griezmann, who has scored 57 goals since joining the La Liga side.

"At the collective level we are looking for doing better than the last year as well."
