Germany's Olympic gold-medal trio make FIFA shortlist

Zurich - Three members of Germany's women's Olympic gold medal winning football team were on Thursday named on the shortlist for FIFA's Best Female Player of 2016.

Bayern Munich midfielders Melanie Behringer and Sara Dabritz, and Lyon midfielder Dzsenifer Marozsan were among a shortlist of ten.

The list also includes last year's winner Carli Lloyd (Houston Dash) of the United States and Brazilian star Marta (Rosengard), who has won the award five times.

France's Camille Abily and Amandine Henry, who both played last season for French club Lyon, who achieved the triple of the women's Champions League, French league and Cup titles.

Defensive midfielder Henry now plays with American club Portland Thorns.

The shortlist also includes Japan's Saki Kumagai and Sweden's Lotta Schelin.

The winner will be announced during a ceremony in Zurich on January 9, when the Men's Player of the Year will also be revealed.
